Martha Stewart

Always had a natural talent for cooking
Her father always had a interest in the finest thing in life
she was very close to her father
Her clothes were mostly homemade
Unlike her friends she wasn't interested in dolls she was always interested in grown up things
Good grades=higher education
Martha would have to pay her own way to go into collage
She didn't have any serious boyfriend because she was focused on her life too much
Did modeling work to pay for tuition
She was very independent
Was living in New York for awhile
Her way of relaxing was to be busy
1965 was expecting a baby
Was a stock broker
She took her skill to make money out of it
1973 moved to west fort
1979 her dad passed away
She spent a lot of time on her business and didn't get a lot of time with her family
1993 she had her own T.V show

Undercover Boss

When he was 33years old he worked himself to CEO of ABM
He is going undercover as a worker rather then being the CEO
He is a avid speeder
He is not very motivated to work
He didn't end up getting the job
Wasn't to big on the sky scrappers
Learnt that hes not going to be a window washer
Hes a very slow man of few words
The Spanish lady is all agiast fingerprints
Gary was a good guy
He says you have to feel others pain
They were surprised when they found out he was the CEO of ABM

Walt Disney-If you can dream you can do it
Jim Pattison- Sold cars, attended UBC, started his business with a 40,000 loan and he owned a lot of businesses throughout his life
Martha Stewart- Very average girl, modeled, was hard to work with.
Henry Ford- Mom died when he was 13, he became a engineer, he was successful at selling automobiles he mentor was Thomas Edison. He didn't have a business plan and he just had an idea
Yahoo Creator- Worth 44.6 billion it was his only venture
Ray Kroc- Owner of McDonald's,made milkshake blenders and selling paper cups before he got into McDonald's. He wanted to help his country so he joined the red cross. Where ever the customer was he expected perfection. started his business when he was 57
Phil Knight- Was a guinea pig, thought of sports like rock n roll they can be spoken in a international language

Hilton Hotels

First born son was names Conrad
His father loved to show off his handle bars
Gust expected Conrad to work for him
He liked to dance
Opened up the first town bank
Conrad was 26 without a career
Served in world war 1
Had experience with dry goods
He knew his father would like him to take over his general store
Wanted to pursue his life as a bank
Then thought why not be a hotel owner?
Bought his first hotel for 40,000
Was able to buy fixer upper hotels for dirt cheap and turned them around
Profits soared
earning $100,000 a year owning 8 hotels
Conrad had a vision for his business
October 1929 the great depression took place and his business came to a halt
He didn't end up going bankrupt and gained a rock solid reputation
Wife left him in 1931
1940 he went to
When people are fearful they will do anything
Conrad was a very positive thinker
Always told himself "one day I'm going to own that hotel"

Was kicking it a Fabricland
Was interested in style design
Worked for 10months to graduate from hair collage
It was hard to find a job in the service industry at the time
Only 2 chairs in the salon she worked at
Had hard times with money because she got paid by commission
After 2 weeks she couldnt handle that salon
3rd job was assisting a hair designer was his "right hand"
Worked for about 1year but she wanted her own clients so she quit
Ended up giving her an amazing reference
Hard work pays off!
